Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease. However, the treatment is expensive and not easily available to those who are most vulnerable. It is transmitted by a mosquito that bites at night between 10pm and 4am. Sleeping under a mosquito net drastically reduces a person’s risk of contracting malaria. Although malaria has been eradicated in the West, it continues to kill millions of people, primarily children under five years of age.
